Far North Studios is so named since I am from Alaska (and I still live there part of the year)! I have loved horses my whole life, and collected Breyer models ever since I can remember. I kept telling myself I had grown out of them, but of course I inevitably came back to my beloved plastic horses.

Since I have a background in 2-D art, it was only natural that I would decide to try painting model horses, and FNS was born. I now paint in pastels, using acrylic for details and markings. I find the pastel ideal for slowly building up layers of color that blend together and create the effect of a real live animal. I am always trying to improve my work, and feel like I am just at the beginning of my painting career. My goal is to create Live Show winners and horses that can be competitive with the big names at NAN. A lofty goal to be sure, but one I feel I can reach eventually. Will you help me reach my goal? The winner I create could be yours!
